I have always had a curiosity for hearing people’s stories, a deep passion for fostering hope and empowerment, as well as a desire to be of service to others. I feel blessed to have been able to complete the Masters of Counselling from QUT and cement my desire to sit in the space with a person who has chosen to tell me their story. After this, I founded Stop, Collaborate & Listen – Counselling; a mobile counselling service for south Brisbane, Logan, Redlands, Ipswich and Gold Coast.
Prior to my decision to transition into counselling, I have had both the privilege and joy of being a Registered Midwife for close to a decade. This is where my keen interest in perinatal mental health arose from, as well as the deep understanding of the need to help families during this great period of growth, transition and change. Yet, I also have considerable and ongoing experience in the challenging grief and loss many parents will unfortunately experience. I do not shy away from any kind of grief and loss a person may experience, nor from any of life’s other periods of change or decisions we might have to face.
As a Registered Midwife, I have worked in the on-call caseload Midwifery Group Practice model, and as a rotational midwife with my primary interest being Birth Suite. My current role is in the Bereavement space. In the past, I have been employed in Tertiary and Secondary health services, in both city and rural settings.
I am currently working on publishing an article for the Australian and New Zealand Family Therapy Journal.
I am fully insured, a Level 2 member of the Australian Counselling Association and strongly adhere to a strict code of ethics and confidentiality.
